The bathrooms are usually the smallest rooms in your home, but they are often filled with the most clutter. Having too much clutter in your bathroom can make you feel anxious, stressed, and less satisfied with your living arrangements. Fortunately, there is a simple way to solve this problem: start decluttering!
Follow these tips to clear out that bathroom clutter:
Empty the Medicine Cabinet
Start by emptying the medicine cabinet so you can sort through the items and get rid of the ones you no longer need. Pay close attention to the expiration dates on medications and other personal care items in your medicine cabinet. Getting rid of outdated and unneeded items will clear up a great deal of space so your medicine cabinet looks more neat and orderly.
Clean the Counter
Many people are in the habit of leaving all of the items they use on a daily basis out on their bathroom counter. But, if the bathroom counter is covered in products, it makes the entire room look cluttered. Avoid this problem by clearing the bathroom counter off completely. It’s best to find a place for every item on your counter except for your toothbrush, toothpaste, and hand soap.
You can also leave room on the counter for a decorative item such as a candle or plant to give the room a style upgrade!
Store Loose Items
Loose items such as bobby pins, makeup brushes, and cotton balls make a bathroom cluttered if not stored properly. Storing these unusual items can be tricky, but don’t be afraid to think outside the box! For example, trays designed to organize desk drawers in your home office can tidy up the inside of your bathroom drawers. Items such as cotton balls and makeup brushes fit perfectly inside mason jars, a great DIY storage project to “upcycle” old jars and give your bathroom some personality. Look around your home to find similar unconventional storage containers for the loose items in your bathroom.
Clear the Clutter From the Shower
Don’t forget to pull back the shower curtain and declutter the area around your shower or tub as well. The only items you should keep here are the ones you use every time you shower or take a bath. Remove everything else from this area and store it somewhere else in the bathroom.
Be sure to also check for bottles that are practically empty. Some people hold onto items that are almost empty even though they have no intention of getting the rest of the product out of the bottle. Get rid of these items to instantly create more space in your shower.
Also, avoid doing any personal care that could be done standing in front of the sink instead, such as brush your teeth. This will help you keep items out of the shower and cut your showering time, which is a great way to save water.
The bathroom is supposed to feel like a sanctuary, but it won’t if it is constantly filled with clutter. Follow these simple tips to remove clutter and transform the look and feel of your bathroom. Then, get ready to tackle the clutter in the other areas of your home!
