Winter—and the cold—is here in many parts of the country. For many REALTORS®, winter signals the downturn of the selling season. Sales and listings my slow down, and this provides needed time to catch up on marketing endeavors and maybe even increase your volunteer efforts in the community.
November and December also usher in the holiday season, holiday parties and open house events themed for this festive time of the year. Now is the time to embrace gratitude and thankfulness of the bounties of this industry and the unique opportunities it provides.
So what are you thankful for this year? When the winter gloominess has left you glum, or the slower season has dampened your enthusiasm, here are seven thanks to give this holiday season:
1. A Great Real Estate Market
Of all the things to be most grateful about, a busy home economy is tops! Interest rates are decent and homes are no longer sitting on the market. Gone are the days of too much inventory and not enough buyers.
2. Work/Life Balance and Job Freedom is Attainable
REALTORS® don’t work the typical nine to five. Agents may end up showing a house late in the evening or waking up early on a Saturday morning to schedule an open house, but there is a lot of job flexibility. There isn’t a boss telling you to punch in, and your efforts fuel your individual success.
Some REALTORS® are part-time, others work around the clock. The flexibility of this job allows each REALTOR® to set a schedule that works for their lives and family.
3. REALTORS® Have the Most Amazing Networking Events
REALTORS® have the best work events! Admit it! Between individual events with your broker and colleagues and industry events in your area, there’s always an opportunity to network with fellow REALTORS® and share ideas.
4. REALTORS® See the Joy of the Dream Home
Every day, you help individuals and families find their dream homes. The sheer joy and happiness that you witness when the perfect home is discovered really makes any dreariness of the day dissipate.
REALTORS® know when ‘the one’ is really ‘the one!’ Your clients get excited, every feature becomes amazing and they can’t wait to put in that offer. Of course, the best part is closing and the moment your clients receive the keys to their new home.
REALTORS® understand the exact moment when a house becomes a home…and that joy is a unique gratitude!
5. REALTORS® Get to Share Industry Passions
REALTORS® all eventually become experts of home features. Admit it, you know the difference between almost every type of hardwood floor, and you can explain why a subzero fridge is a major upgrade.
One of the gifts of this business is the education REALTORS® can provide clients regarding unique touches found in every home. When clients are on the fence about a house, REALTORS® know why a certain detail could tip the interest.
Clients come to you for this expertise, so be grateful that you’re able to share this passion and knowledge with them!
6. The Day is Never the Same
Yes, you may host multiple open house events for your listings. However, you will always see new faces. Each client also has unique criteria for a dream home. One day, you may be hunting down a multi-million dollar townhome, the next day you may take a couple to see a lakeside condo.
If variety is the spice of life, REALTORS® have the entire spice rack!
7. Friends Think Your Job is Cool, and They Aren’t Wrong!
Is it a bit trivial to be grateful for the perception of a cool industry? Gratitude can come in many forms when you need it, and it’s ok to embrace the fun of this job. REALTORS® and real estate agents are often portrayed in movies and shows as successful and…cool.
Is it a lot of work? Yes, it is, but it’s also really a kick when someone recognizes you out in public because of your advertising, isn’t it?
The real estate industry is competitive and demanding, but it also is an amazing opportunity for those who want flexibility and to be rewarded for their hard work. During the holiday season, be grateful for friends and family, good health, a warm home, food on the table and the bounties of your success.
As a REALTOR®, you know that the winter season often means a slower time for sales, and this is the perfect opportunity to reflect on giving thanks for all the positives of this amazing industry. You have job freedom, and your career allows you to help individuals and families find their dream home. Each day is unique, and you can share your industry knowledge with your clients as they expand their hunt for that perfect home. There are many thanks to give this season, and we’d love it if you share what you’re thankful for via Facebook or Twitter. And, yes, you can absolutely admit to being thankful for having a successful advertising campaign and being recognized while pumping your gas!
