Popular news, marketing, tech and social media marketing site RIS Media recently gave one of HomeSelfe’s cofounders, Ameeta Jain, a spot on their trending website. Jain shares with readers some important advice on “How to Prepare Your Home to Save on Utility Bills This Summer.”
Beat The Heat
While some of summer’s utility costs are unavoidable, like air conditioning and cooling charges, there are ways to curb these costs. We’ve long been advised to set our temperature at 68° or higher, instead Jain recommends installing a programmable thermostat. When you’re away from home all day, set the temperature much higher and alert your air conditioner to cool your home just prior to your arrival.
To keep the sun from baking your interior rooms, Jain tells consumers to install inexpensive window film along with traditional drapes and blinds. It’s also a great option for homeowners who don’t want to obstruct their exterior views with thick curtains or shades.
Eat Differently and Guard the Garden
Maybe it’s just the thought of cooking on the stove or firing up the oven that seems unpleasant on a hot summer’s day. But these appliances can also seriously heat up a house causing the cooling system to work harder and cost consumers more money. Research recipes that don’t need heat and you’ll also stay cooler in the process.
Jeet also recommends adding mulch to your garden which will have you watering this outdoor eatery less often. Mulch helps to prevent evaporation that will give your plants more time to absorb the water that they’re given.
